Privacy Policy

The short version

Folio is built to collect as little of your data as possible. Your resume and letter content stays in your browser. We never see your card details. We don't use cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts, and we don't require an account.

Information we collect

Content you create. When you build a resume/CV or recommendation letter, that information is stored only in your browser's local storage. It is not saved on our servers. The only time your content leaves your browser is when you click "Download PDF" — at that point it's sent to our server momentarily to generate your PDF and is discarded immediately afterward. We do not store, log, or retain it.

Payment information. Payments are processed entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never receive or store your card number, expiration date, or CVC. To verify that you've paid, we store a Stripe checkout session ID and a status flag ("paid" or "used") — nothing else. Nothing else. We do not use cookies, web beacons, analytics services, or advertising trackers. We do not require you to create an account, so we do not collect a username, password, or profile data.

How we use information

• To generate the PDF you request.
• To verify that a payment was completed before allowing a download.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than the two above.

Sharing your information

We share information only with:

• Stripe, to process your payment.
• Our hosting/infrastructure providers (Vercel for application hosting, Neon for the minimal payment-status database), only to the extent necessary to operate the service.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share your resume or letter content with any third party.

Data retention

• Draft content lives only in your browser's local storage and stays there until you clear it yourself (or clear your browser data). We have no way to access or delete it remotely, because we never receive it except momentarily during PDF generation.
• Payment session records (session ID + status) are retained for our own accounting/verification purposes, unless you ask us to delete them.

Your choices

• You can clear your draft at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
• You can ask us to delete any payment records associated with your session by contacting us (see below).

Children's privacy

Folio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
